The month long celebrations of the 1 year anniversary of The Made in NY Media Center by IFP are truly starting off in style. Members of the Media center will get a chance to meet Jon Miller, former AOL/Time Warner Chairman.
The Media Center is a space where you can find dedicated desk space and opportunities for business development and mentorship. It also provides members with a platform to connect with other entrepreneurs, technologists, storytellers and visionaries.
This 20,000-square-foot facility is located on the ground floor of 30 John Street in DUMBO at the intersection of John and Jay Street. It features co-working spaces, a 72-seat screening room, an art gallery and café. It also houses dedicated spaces for classes, conferences, and meetings. The Media Center serves the NYC tech and creative communities. It provides facilities, network, classes & workshops and access to industry resources for varying needs.
A chance to meet Jon Miller
As the space celebrates one year of its existence it offers members the opportunity to meet with Jon Miller, the digital media guru. Considering the gamut of experience Jon has the opportunity to meet with him is one that puts people face to face with success.
Jon currently is the co-founder of Fuel Media Capital and a member of the Board of Directors for the American Film Institute. He also serves on the Board of Trustees at Emerson College as well as WNYC Public Radio in New York. A B.A. from Harvard College Jon lives in New York.
He has previously occupied many important positions in premiere organizations. He has worked in the capacity of Chief Digital Officer, Chairman and CEO of Digital Media Group for News Corporation. He was the driving force behind the Company’s overall digital strategy which was implemented together with various operational heads. Miller also oversaw all of News Corporation’s standalone digital businesses.
Prior to his stint with News Corporation, Jon was a founding partner of Velocity Interactive Group, an investment firm which focused on digital media within the consumer internet space. Miller has also been Chairman and CEO of AOL. During his tenure he led the company to a record annual profit growth of 21 percent and increased online advertising growth by 46 percent in 2006.
Earlier in his career, Jon was CEO and President of USA Information and Services (now IACI and Expedia). He has also worked in the capacity of Managing Director of Nickelodeon International, a unit of Viacom’s MTV Networks. From 1987-1993, Miller was Vice President, Programming and Co-General Manager of NBA Entertainment. His responsibilities included league-wide brand management and programming.
Meeting with him will provide CEOs and members of the Media Center to gain valuable insights from his vast experience in significant organizational roles. A rich and varied experience in various companies in the digital media arena makes Jon the right person to learn digital strategy from.
