It was once said that the true sign of business integrity is collaboration. Expanding on my earlier article on Business Relationships I want to add one additional step. It is paramount to the enduring success of any firm to reinvent, renew and restore the relationships within its own walls as well as the community at large.
What Winning Companies Do
As winning companies will attest to, optimal business success never occurs in a vacuum. Universal cooperation is a significant indicator of positive achievment in the private and public business arena.
Healthy and constructive internal business processes are solution oriented. These small, self-formed, self-appointed alliances review micro issues that need to be addressed and are done so efficiently.
Rather than waiting for ’someone else’ to blame or to work out the solution, winning internal organizations address issues organically. As if upon cue, any snag in the overall process inspires a self-made resolution that improves upon the system in place prior to the problem arising.
It is consistent and genuine collaboration between the CEO’s to the newest hires that stimulates such a positive philosophy.
A Fundamental Rule
Mutual cooperation between business and community is a fundamental rule of success for creating a culture of harmony and prosperity. It is always dangerous if a CEO perceives that sharing best practices with other leaders in his or her field will somehow weaken their secrets to success.
Whenever one business builds a bridge with another business in the community, big or small, everyone wins, especially the customers and residents.
It is more than possible to maintain a core community identity as the city grows. Through open B to B collaboration, each establishment within the community is empowered to preserve original landmarks, the area’s natural beauty, as well as enhancement of vital community programs. The economic development that stems from such common goals is an inevitable outcome.
Conclusion
United we stand; Divided we fall. Ringing true in business and community — now, more than ever.
